Waiting to Emerge

Mr. Kerry was no doubt looking forward to Democrat Convention Week with great anticipation as it was to be the birth of a new optimism for his campaign.  However, after the week he has had, I suspect that he is just hoping to wiggle out of the tight spot he has made for himself.  It has been a rough few days.  The distinguished Senator decided to make a campaign stop in Cape Canaveral to play dress-up for some publicity photos (link to these photos on the arrow next to the title of this blog entry).  He never suspected he would generate his own Dukakis Moment.

After cleaning the pipes for NASA, Kerry decided to go to a Red Sox game where he hoped to see his favorite player, Eddie Yost, play.  Unfortunately, his handlers forgot to tell him that Yost not only no longer plays baseball but he never actually played for the Red Sox.  Nonetheless, Kerry was invited to throw out the first pitch.  He was obviously anxious to do this since he had seen the President throw a perfect strike at the World Series to thunderous adulation.  However, Kerry did not realize that this is the big leagues and the plate is 60 feet, 6 inches from the mound.  He one-hopped it to the plate throwing what is quite conceivably the worst lob ever thrown.

Meanwhile, wife Teresa Heinz Kerry was lying about using the words, "Un-American" in a speech and telling the reporter who called her on it to "shove it" while Michael Moore and the Grassy Knoll Wing of the party were taking over the convention.

After the week he has had, Kerry may want to find a hole in which to crawl.

Dems Defend the Indefensible

Sandy Berger who was Bill Clinton's National Security Advisor and who was (until yesterday) a top advisor to the Kerry/Edwards Campaign has been caught red-handed stealing top secret documents from the National Archives.  He has even admitted to taking the classified documents and attributed it to being "sloppy".  The leftist media dutifully joined the chorus echoing this defense until it was further learned that National Archive personnel observed Mr. Berger stuffing the documents in his socks and even down his pants.  Now, if Clinton himself were the one enhancing his package with top secret documents, then the "sloppy" defense might still stand-up.  However, it doesn't fly for Berger.  Thus the Democrats and the media have switched to the "kill the messenger" defense going so far as to say (in the words of Dan Rather) that the reporting of this investigation was, "A well orchestrated Leak" by the Republicans.  Of course, the fact that there is no evidence that any Republican had anything to do with the release of this information cannot stand in the way of their attempts to spin this slime away from their boys.   They also ignore the fact that the Bush Administration had not even been briefed by the Justice Department prior to the scandal hitting the media.

The Kerry/Edwards campaign insists that they knew nothing of this investigation into Berger's nefarious activities (though Bill Clinton claimed today in the Denver Post that he has known of the investigation for months) .  In fact John Kerry stated that, "I didn't have a clue".  Kerry further claims that, top campaign advisor Sandy Berger did not present any of the stolen information to him.  However, the Kerry/Edwards campaign acted quickly today to alter their website to remove a transcript of a December 2003 speech made by Kerry which referenced national security weaknesses in our seaports and airports.  Just coincidentally (I am sure), at least one of the documents that was pilfered referenced the very same issues of sea and air vulnerabilities.   Fortunately, some savvy websites have retrieved these speeches and thus the evidence has been preserved.

We have all long suspected that the Democrats will go to any length to regain their power no matter how their actions might damage our country or our national security.  Now we have a glaring and blatant example of this.

YELLOW CAKE JOURNALISM

Joe Wilson is a former ambassador, darling of the old media and die-hard supporter of Kerry/Edwards. However, none of these are his most notable area of acclaim. He is now best know as the proven liar that attempted to undermine the War on Terrorism by claiming that President Bush lied about the attempts of Saddam Hussein to obtain yellow cake uranium from Niger. Unfortunately for Joe, the US Senate Intelligence committee and several international intelligence agencies have confirmed that Iraq did indeed try to secure this most important precursor to a nuclear weapon. In fact, Mr. Wilson's own reports to the CIA contradict statements in his book as well as the numerous media screeds he has proffered. He has known the truth from the start but continually lied about it for the obvious political reasons.

Joe Wilson also made another false claim that has now been roundly debunked. He said that his wife, CIA agent Valerie Plame had nothing to do with his appointment to the mission in Niger. This too was addressed in the US Senate Intelligence Report. Ms. Plame was largely responsible for his role in this mess.

Valerie Plame, as the wife of Joe Wilson, had to know of his nefarious intentions when she recommended him for this trip. Why is she not being investigated for her role in this fraud. If the CIA is broken, as some claim, I think the repairs should start with her removal from the Agency. Perhaps she can be shipped to the same retirement home as disgraced former CIA Director and Clinton appointee, George Tenent

Ketchuping Up with the Heinz-Kerrys

When he hits the campaign trail, John Kerry often speaks of his belief that the rich don't pay there fair share of taxes. Ironically, he need not even venture from the house to preach his manifesto. He can simply turn to his wife to deliver this sermon. You see, his wife Teresa Heinz Kerry possesses assets reportedly worth at least one billion dollars thanks to funds she inherited upon the untimely death of her husband, Republican Senator John Heinz (of the Heinz Ketchup Family). However, she only reported five million dollars of income for 2003. For those of you on the Florida Supreme Court, that amounts to only a one-half of one percent return (0.5%) on a billion dollars of investments. This indicates only one of two possibilities. Either the Kerry's are the worst financial managers since the advent of the Social Security Administration or they are engaging in a little bit of tax evasion.

Unfortunately, no one knows the truth except Kerry because he has refused to release records of their finances contrary to the standards of full disclosure upheld by virtually every presidential candidate in modern history. WHAT DO THEY HAVE TO HIDE! We peasants can only speculate on the nature of this big secret. Is Kerry trying to avoid embarrassment due to investments in the hated Halliburton? Do they have holdings in tobacco, gun manufacturers or corporate polluters? Maybe they have investments in the Carlyle Group and they are afraid that, if it is revealed, Michael Moore might make a documentary linking them to the Saudi Royal Family and Osama Bin Laden (not likely). The most troubling suspicion of all is that Teresa may have given money to at least one radical Islamic group. This hunch is being investigated by some.

In the meantime, we serfs have no choice but to keep our noses to the grindstone, work hard and keep paying our taxes to catchup (or is it ketchup) for the taxes that the Kerry Family is evading.

John Kerry did not earn his way into the elite and selective group of the super-wealthy. He married up. Predictably, It is no surprise that no proposal that he has advanced taxes wealth. Thus, the billions held by his wife will not be affected. Instead, he has said that in his first 100 days as President (God help us) he will raise taxes only on income. What Kerry has revealed is that his tax policy will be especially hard on small businesses. These are the same businesses that employ the vast majority of the rest of us.

Post Script:  With his VP selection, Kerry has clearly decided to stick with a theme.  John Edwards is a multi-millionaire who made his fortune not by earning it but rather by suing it out of others.  He also set up a dummy corporation (with him, John Edwards,  as the only member of the corporation) in order to avoid Medicare and  Social Security taxes.
