UNIFORMLY DISINGENUOUS
This week, John Kerry traveled to Arkansas and delivered a speech in which he stated that when Bill Clinton left office no man or women in uniform anywhere around the world was dying. Perhaps he felt comfortable making this ridiculous comment since he was in the land of Clinton. Clearly he could parse his way out of it in several ways. It is entirely likely that at the split second Clinton left office, no person in the military died. With regard to the sailors that lost their lives in the bombing of the USS Cole, he could say that, since they were in their racks (bunks in Army parlance) during the blast, they weren't technically in their uniforms. Therefore, They don't count.
It is hard to determine what point Kerry was trying to make with this comment. However, it does indicate his utter lack of understanding that we are in a global war against terrorism. Furthermore, as these words rolled off of his lips, he succeeded in, once again, minimizing the sacrifices made by the bravest among us.
